Why is everyone so against skin-whitening creams or hostile to questions about them?

Petty counter arguments, more often that not, range from the subtle words of comfort "hey, beauty knows no skin colour" to vicious and ugly attacks like "so u wanna be like MICHAEL JACKSON?////"

Err, no.

No matter how accomodating we may be of other skin colours, the most predominant notion that comes to mind is that people with fairer skin tend to be naturally more attractive that those with dark skin. No matter what we do, people will always push the argument that dark skin is a good thing to have.

Also, having a fair skin lessens the likelihood of facing any form of racist slurs or hassles. A report on racism in Toronto by the Toronto Star asked people a few questions about their ethnicity and their encounter with racism. One Italian guy, who said that he did not face any kind of racism that it was "probably because I'm white." A Venezuelan immigrant agrees, and says that "what saved my *** was my white skin [...]."

There is more to say but I'm running out of space..

Why is everyone so against skin-whitening creams or hostile to questions about them?
Whether people like it or not, this is the way it is. Over the years I have had this conversation with women from a variety of ethnic groups. In the Asian countries they are taught to protect their skin from the sun so that will not get too dark. They are taught thta they will have a better life if they are fair skinned.

Here in southern California I see the Asian women driving and holding something in the other hand to block the sun.

Years ago I saw a movie that was made in Mexico. About half of the way through the movie, I noticed that the maid and the gardner were dark. The main characters were fair. I asked my friend (Mexican) about this and the answer was the same. The lighter the skin the better.

I am Black, and I am fair skinned. The worst treatment I have had was by other Blacks. They will say I think I am White, or if there is a discussion about discrimination some have said that I would not know about discrimination because of my color. I had a friend say "all you light brights have it made" because she did not have a boyfriend. She really thinks that nobody wanted her because she is dark. Last summer, on the same day, I had one coworker who is Black (dark) tell me I "need to put those white legs in the sun". That afternoon my Asian coworker told me to "get out of the sun, you are dark enough"! I too could go on and on.

Does color make a difference? Yes, it does. It took an article I read in Ebony magazine to make me see the truth that I did not want to believe. Their research showed that fairer skinned Blacks got the better jobs, were treated differently, etc. However, none of us have any control over genetics.

The skin whitening creams are used to help lighten dark spots.
Reply:So you think you can justify this this with testaments...? So what if it's "easier?" That doesn't make it any less racist. It's essentially saying that you have to be white in order to be beautiful and special.
Reply:I don't know about the arguments like Michael Jackson, but my concern would be how safe those cremes are. Many of them will irritate your skin a lot, some might make matters worse by making dark spots to appear. If you consider them for long-term use, I'd sujjest doing a thurough study on them firs how safe they are, and are they intended for.
Reply:I think the question is perfectly valid...

In Asian cultures, it's always been more attractive to have lighter skin. It wasn't because of a yearning to appear more Western, it's just that different societies have different perceptions of beauty that sometimes touch. It's not about wanting to look like Michael Jackson or Caucasian.

I can't speak for other cultures, though. And personally, I've always liked having a little bit of a tan.
Reply:I've read that this is very hard on the skin.
Reply:Well firstly, you should not change yourself to try to fit in or please others. And secondly, bleaching creams are not for bleaching the colour out of your entire face! Their purpose is to blend uneven pigmentation such as melasma.

And when you have darker skin and use large amounts of bleaching creams, especially in high concentrations, you run the risk of ended up with more problems than benefits.

I personally think you have some kind of inferiority complex and possibly some professional counselling would be beneficial. You are not the only one in the world that has to deal with some kind of prejudice, but you should never change for other people. Take care : )

Lighter Skin? Darker Skin? Why does today's society view lighter skin as more attractive than darker skin?

I fall somewhere in the middle, but I've always heard that women with lighter skin tend to be looked upon as more attractive especially when accompanied by a finer texture of hair. Why does the majority (until very recently) think that lighter skin / lighter shade of eyes / long wavy-textured hair is better? Is it just a phase? Is light in? Is dark in? Does it even matter...because everyone's beautiful? What do you think?

Lighter Skin? Darker Skin? Why does today's society view lighter skin as more attractive than darker skin?
Girl i understand what you mean! I think its just where you were raised. I'm light skinned and when i lived up north all my darker friends were viewed as much prettier but then i moved to GA and all of a sudden it was just the opposite. My mom always told me its from back in the days of slavery
Reply:The thing that is weird is light skinned women try hard to get tan!

Nobody is happy with what they are.
Reply:This is news to me. Every light-skinned person I know (including me) is trying to tan and get darker!
Reply:Really, it was the other way around where I was from, the darker girls where considered prettier. While the lighter girls were referred to as "high yellow". I actually tried to tan l.o.l, but not any more I love myself, no matter what others think of me.

I wish we would just let the whole skin color thing die, as one poster told me, look up the Willi Lynch and see how his racist ideas are keeping dark and light Blacks divided today centuries after slavery.
Reply:i dont think it matters what color you are if your pretty your pretty end of story.
Reply:i wish i was tanner =[ lucky u!
Reply:skin color should not matter, their are beautiful people of all colors.
Reply:Only People with low self-esteem would say something like that. Light skin isn´t in no way better than dark skin, neither the other way around. Evryone is beautiful regardless their skin color.
Reply:Am lighter skin but personally prefer se people with darker skin...but i think it traces way back to slavery times and racism..and even though there has been some few changes basic things will always remain with us...but society don't only judgewomen by their skin tone...from what am seeing taller people nor matter what colour are gettin much more attention that short women so thats not fair
Reply:I dont jugde others, and alot of people do. It just depends on the person. I think that the way a person looks is NOT what matters, the thing that matters is the inside. Okay, to tell the truth, I have some friends that are different colors than me, but I only DATE people my color. But everyone is different. Dont be sad. Just go look in te mirror, and look at yourself for a couple minutes, and you will see how beautiful you are. I hope I helped. And I hope this put a smile on your face.
Reply:Well personaly I think it is all steriotyping and it is very VERY wrong. I love people with dark skin and light skin both. I hope I helped! And hon, if your worried about the way people look at you, tell them they need to find something else to pick at.
Reply:IT GOES BACK TO OLDEN DAYS , RICH WOMEN DIDN'T HAVE TO WORK OUTSIDE IN THE SUN . THEY STAYED LIGHTER IN SKIN COLOR WHILE BEING INSIDE BEING WAITED ON , POORER WOMEN WHO HAD TO WORK FOR A LIVING QUITE OFTEN HAD TO WORK OUTSIDE AND GOT A TAN . IN OTHER WORDS A TAN MEANT YOU WERE OF THE WORKING CLASS , WHILE FAIR SKIN MEANT YOU WERE ROYALTY
Reply:I don't understand why things are this way, nobodys satisfied with what God gave them, it's a shame the dark want to be light and the light want to be dark. Seemes as though humans want the opposite of what is natural.
Reply:it all boils down to one's cultural identity and preferences.. one's beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.. skin tanning and skin lightening have the same objectives - better self esteem and correction of uneven skin tone.. whichever one you choose, it should be where you're happy at and feel good about yourself regardless of what other people think about it.. each one has different needs and wants.

Acne/skin problems?

I've had a really bad case of acne in my teens years. Today, I admit that it is clearer but I still see flaws with my skin. My skin tends to be oily on cheeks, forehead and maybe sometimes nose %26amp; chin. The rest might be dry. I tend to get red very easily. To me, my skin tone appears very uneven. Like it can be dark brown, pale, red or a mixture. But that I'm never too sure. I still have acne too. There more like blackheads or whiteheads? And my cheeks look like they have tiny holes in them, but I'm guessing those are pores. I really dont know what to do anymore. I dont want to try proactiv. Any suggestions to solving some of the problems above? I'd appreaciate it alot Thanks:)

Acne/skin problems?
Well Proactive may work for you. it doesn't work for everybody but it does work for a lot.

The only real way to get rid of post-acne scarring or uneven skin tones is chemical peels which help to even out your skin tone, or surgery to get rid of the scarring. I believe they can do it with a laser or sometimes they have to replace the skin, with skin elsewhere on your body.

I know it sounds expensive and scary but there is really no natural way to cure it.
Reply:go see a dermatologist if you can. i used proactiv at one point because i was that self concious, and it actually helped, but only a little, not as much as everyone thinks it does, and plus its expensive.
Reply:You might want to try Arbonne products u can go directly to their website, i think its www.arbonne.com they have great products, i had bad skin, but now its totally better. It takes like 2 weeks, but you'll see a difference in your skin. It also clears up your skin and makes your pores not so big. I used this with the bare escentials make up, and you would not believe how many compliments I get on my "great" skin.

Good luck :-)
Reply:My son got better when he quit putting all the stuff on his face and just cleaned once daily with mild soap and water. Dr. can give you antibiotics to take if he thinks its worth it. Benzyl Peroxide can be bought at the drug store over the counter for about $5 per tube. It is the same active ingredent as proactiv though proactiv has a cleaning regamine to follow also. Ask pharmacist to point it out. .
Reply:Try neutrogena products. Especially the blackhead clearing scrub. It works wonders for my skin. Also, try exfoliating once a week and use a mud mask. Also, try acne free. It's like proactive but better and much cheaper.
Reply:u have any skin problems used the products more informtion http://www.skincarefairy.com
Reply:Me too. I'vebeen there I have the same problems. Make up doesn't help though unless it contains vitamins and minerals. Yes they do make these kinds yes it's more expensive but totally worth it. Try clean and clear black head scrub something like that to remove the black heads. I'm sure that's the name or something on that order. I have the stuff and it works really well. Have you tried Murad? I have ecellent stuff when they say that works thy mean it. Guess what? It's made just for your skin go on line and get some samples. You can even go to the Medical Spa...well depending on where you live I know one is in LA in California and it's really good. It's really relaxing they have this one treatment and it's 4.4 hours long which is really relaxing. I promise you wont want to leave. Try some light cleaning too. I tried Proactive and it wont' work for you how do I know? because I have the same skin as you. It will burn and that doesn't help. Murad is different they are like all about health and so on. The skin care is so gentle to your skin you will actually like puttng it on and once it's own you won't even know. Your skin will clear up fast. I places just some of the thigns I recieved in the sample on my forehead where I had some break outs and it cleared up in a day. How cool and although I didn't buy right after that it stayed clear so now I have no problems. You have to at least try some samples and ys they are free. You even get things on your birthday now proactive can beat that.

Tips; Wash 2-3 times daily and try to keep hands out of your face.

Use a towel or wash cloth you can damp it a little to pop them no it's not good too, but at least you're not using your hands and so you're not putting more bacteria into your skin.

Drink plenty of water and take some vitamins.

Relax. Try not to stress too much it's harsh on your skin.

the following 2 testimonials can be seen at http://www.earthclinic.com/cures/acne.ht...

Angelina O, has found that applying ACV topically to her face several times a day (4 or more times) has cured her of a "very bad complexion". She reports that she applies it straight and that while it burns her skin a bit, it still works like a miracle!

Cheryl writes, "My daughter developed a case of moderate acne, and after trying a number of different things for over a year which helped very little or not at all, she started drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar three times a day and applying it topically once at night. She has been acne free for two months. It took about three weeks to clear up."

to drink it, put it in honey and water, or apple juice--tastes like cider..cost is 5 dollars a qt at the healthfood store

My elbows tend to be darker than the rest of my arms. Is there a way to even out the skin tone?

Cut a lemon in half and rub it on your elbows for a few minutes. Try it for a week, it should work!

I just got a Brazilian wax - what should I put on my skin now?

I know that it's normal to have a bit of very light bruising and chafing afterwards, but is there anything I can put on my skin to help it heal more quickly? I know about Tend Skin and baby powder - are there any other products which help? Thanks!

I just got a Brazilian wax - what should I put on my skin now?
Put moisturising cream on it - it makes that area really soft and sexy!
Reply:Baby powder containing cornstarch. It will help keep you dry and minimize rubbing.
Reply:Azulene oil - its this blue oil that you put on after waxing. It soothes it like crazy. You can get it at wal mart and pharmacies.
Reply:i go to brazilian beauy in brisbane and they have the best products to use after a brazilian wax.....not sure what its called but it is fantastic!!!!! get some !! it sorts out any problems!! i used to get ingrown hairs and i dont anymore.

When I wax my upper lip, my skin tends to break out. What can I do to prevent it?

I cleanse very thoroughly before and afterwards, but nothing seems to work. Also, sometimes, my skin tends to become very dry and peel where I have waxed.

Also, I cannot ever seem to be able to get all of the hairs off! Please help! I am a mess!!!

When I wax my upper lip, my skin tends to break out. What can I do to prevent it?
Go to a professional. After the treatment they should apply a moisturizing cream and if you are sensitive to breakouts they can "zap" you after, which is just like a laser light over the waxed area.

My aesthetician just calls it zapping, unfortunatley I do not know the technical term.

You should be able to get a good wax for about $15.

I just can't stand to do it myself so I would much rather pay for someone else to inflict the torture.

"Whites" tend to show more color on their skin. Then why are black people called "people of color"?

I'm white. But I can be colorful!!! This is wrong!!!

"Whites" tend to show more color on their skin. Then why are black people called "people of color"?
The term actually refers to all non-whites, and is considered to be bigoted.

I think all of us have a color. This song/video says it all:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HxLOQ-oo...
Reply:?White people coined the term 'colored'
Reply:If we call them anything else, Jesse and Al will get us fired.
Reply:I am not familiar with those political parties. Can you tell me more?
Reply:The arbitrariness of these labels reflects the fact that race is much more of a social construct than a biological or even cultural fact. Under the old racial conventions in the US, a person was considered black/of color/African-American/etc. if he/she had a single drop of African blood. We still tend to follow this way of thinking. Sen. Obama's mother, after all, is white, but he's viewed as black because of his dad's African origins.

All of this means that there's a lot of room for Humpty-Dumpty maneuvering on racial labeling, with sterling individuals such as Al Sharpton using words to mean whatever they want. I don't know that fighting it does a whole lot of good--you might look as ridiculous as the guy trying to reclaim the phrase "porch monkey" in the movie "Clerks II." I suppose the bottom line with groups (even those as loosely defined as "races") is the same as with people: have the politeness to address them the way they want.

BTW, the phrase "colored" is still used in English-speaking Africa and the Caribbean. (Well, they do mis-spell it by adding a superfluous "u" in the middle ...) It refers to persons of mixed-race origin and in South Africa, for example, is the moniker of choice for a group representing some 5 pct of the population.

Lately my skin itch when i'm nervous or stressed and i tend to scratch myself .?

There are raised lumps along the scratches on my skin. They look like mosquito bites. Sometimes even when Im not scratching these mosquito bites appear on my knuckles when im under stressed or feeling nervous . I never had such a thing before. This have been happening since this January. What could be wrong?

Lately my skin itch when i'm nervous or stressed and i tend to scratch myself .?
u might be having reactions with ur sweat that cause the bumps go see a doctor though
Reply:possibly hives maybe? im not a dr. and i dont know for sure. but some people can get allergic reactions when they are nervous- i do. your dr. can definitely help you better than yahoo answers. just my opinion. good luck.
Reply:could be a histamine response to stress ?
Reply:relax and moisturize!!!
Reply:Sounds like you are getting hives. I get them to, for the same reasons. When I get stressed, nervous, to hot, or am to physically active I get them. Zyrtec seems to help mine rahter well. Any antihistimine should help the symptoms. Even if this happens frequently, and all you do is itch and get red bumps, be careful and if your throat or tongue start to well, seek emergency attention. Hives are an allergic reaction and can cause more serious problems though very rare if you are getting them without other conditions from the begining.
Reply:Sounds just like hives. And the above answer is wonderful. You need to block the histamine before it is released after the hives are there the histamine is already released and you can't get rid of it with anything. The only thing you can do is block further histamine from being released and let your bodty flush the already present stuff (drink lots of water to help do this) I take Benadryll every 4 hours when I breakout. It does tend to knock me out though, but hey it works. The zantac is great to take daily, or at least when you start to feel nervous it doesn't make you sleepy and it blocks histamine too. They are both ok to take together.

What is the best way to tend to a cut on the skin?
retard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Reply:Wash out the cut with soap and water first then apply an antiseptic and cover loosely with a bandage.
Reply:Depends on the cut, keep it clean, covered for the most part, keep it dry etc.
Reply:If it's large/deep, go buy something called Steri-strips. They are kind of like paper stitches. You stick them to one side of the cut and gently pull toward the other side and press down. They pull the cut together and help it heal faster. Be sure to wash the cut first with soap and water, wipe with alcohol, then do the strips and put neosporin and a bandage on it. It will heal together in a day or 2 and you can remove the bandage.
Reply:Lick it / Spit on it.

or

Wash it with soap and put some alcohol on it.
Reply:cleanse it well with soap and water then put an anti-bacterial medication like neosporin on it and cover with a band-aid during the day then at night let it air out should heal a couple of days...

What is a good skin moisturizer I am a african american woman? I tend to get dry around the mouth and nose?

area but oily on the rest of my face when using any lotion. I want something that makes my skin glow but not shine after use. Also are there any good acne medications for skin type also or hopefully there is something good that does both fight acne and is a good moisturizer without too much shine.

What is a good skin moisturizer I am a african american woman? I tend to get dry around the mouth and nose?
Cetaphil. This is what dermatologists recommend and it is non-comedogenic meaning it will not clog your pores.

This is better than any Clinique, Liz Clayborne, etc. garbage.

In terms of Acne medication there is only one answer: Accutane.

I have clear skin now thanks to Accutane.

Go see your dermatologist and get Roche Accutane or Ranbaxy Sotret. These work a lot better than the generics.

Response to BooBoo: You are wrong. There is a Cetaphil lotion AND Cetaphil cleanser. Do your research.
Reply:my mom is african american and she uses mango buter cream that you can but at he body shop and cucumber cream as well
Reply:Cocoa butter
Reply:My face gets really dry and I have tried all of the expensive lotions. There are only 2 lotions that work on me and they are Ponds (at Walgreens or Wal-Mart) and Beauty Control. They're the best! Cetaphil is a cleanser (not a lotion) but it is recommended by physicians for cleansing the face. I am a medical transcriptionist and Cetaphil is given to a lot of patients with dry skin. They also tell patients to use Dove soap (noncolored) when bathing and showering.
Reply:For moisturizing you want to find a product that say BOTH non comigenic and oil free. That way you have the hydration without more acne. For a mild acne treatment you can use Proactiv Solution. I would ask them about the 30 day kit for a total of 25.90. This is a 1 month supply and it will be enough to test your skin and make sure that it wont cause more dryness. You use it 2 times a day a dime size amount of the cleanser and toner and a vegtable pea size amount or the repairing lotion. The reparing lotion is NOT a moisturizer but a drying agent to help dry up the current acne that you have. However, if you have acne in just the dry areas this means you have acne caused by dry skin. and in this case you need to keep the area clean and hydrated. So if you are looking for a product to keep your youthful glow, even skin tone and a well hydrated and clear complexion call up Proactiv Solution and tell them that an agent told you about the Gentle formula Kit. This kit is a salicylic acid product its great for that type of skin. You will have to join the club were you get automatic shipments every 2 months, HOWEVER you can cancel your account after you recieve the first kit. You use it the same way as the regular kit I told you about. This kit will be a 60 day kit so a 2 month supply and you pay a total of 45.90. Also Proactiv Solution has 2 different moisturizers The oil free with SPF 15 is a good one or the green tea moisturizer. I use both of them as they are BOTH actually oil free and non comegenic. I use the one with SPF 15 during the day and the Green Tea at night. Both great products. Another product that they have that is just a great skin care product is the refining mask. It is kinda smelly as it is made with sulfer but the stuff makes your skin feel soft and rejuvinated. It is also a great spot treatment for acne blemishes as the sulfer is a natral antibiotic. You can contact a customer service rep for Proactiv Solution at 1-800-950-4695. and wait for the option to talk to representative I think it is option number 3.

only chinese, japanese and korean have yellowish.

filipinos who are asians too are tan.
Reply:Maybe because of the sun.. Idk
Reply:the yellowish color is caused by the pigment in the skin. there are three different types of pigment and one of them, I believe it is Carotene is more yellowish in color, Asians have a higher amount of it in their skin causing their skin to appear more yellow.
Reply:genetics... its kinda complicated. One because of evolutionary process and the climate conditions in central asia. The second reason is because of a thing called a continous trait when it comes to skin pigmentation that cause this gradient of skin colours amoung humans.
Reply:Only Chinese do,

Japanese and Koreans vary
Reply:Does it really matter what color skin we have? We are all humans, and God created us equal.

As for why they have yellow skin; partly due to natural selection during the evolutionary period of that racial group, maybe partly to do with sexual selection and maybe partly to do with random genetic drift.

Is MAC Studio Fix okay for sensitive skin or does it tend to make one breakout?

Studio Fix is silicone based, so it's not advisable to use if you already have breakout-prone skin. A LOT of people tend to have problems with MAC's foundations in general (because they're all silicone based). You might want to try something a little more sheer and mineral based, maybe try Clinique or Lancome instead.

I have really good skin facially but i tend to break out on my back.?
I do that too. It isn't so bad. I know that it is embarrassing but it is something we all have to deal with. Make sure that you try to reach back and wash it everyday. Remember don't scratch them. If it is a real concern go to your doctor, he will prescribe something for you. I know it worked for my brother and his facial blemished

Reply:You could try exfoliating the skin on your back-- it will be tricky unless somebody can do it for you!! You can try scrubs to open the pores right up and acne creams are good to. Just try that-- failing that go see your gp u may need an antibiotic cream to keep infection at bay
Reply:i get the same thing. i just take more showers and i tried different types of soaps till i found one that works.
Reply:i switched to glycerin soap with tea tree oil in it , worked for me
Reply:You're skin may be reacting to perspiration, a certain type of powder, the type of clothing you wear or the cleanliness of your beddings. Try to observe if you may relate the ocassions that your breakout is worse with a specific one of the above. If you're able to tell which is the cause then you can take extra care in avoiding the materials your back reacts badly to. Or simply, your back may be just extra sensitive - and you may need to consult a derma.

Have you noticed how Eskimos (they live in the Arctic!) tend to have darker skin? Why do you think that is ...

The sun's pretty bright up there and it reflects pretty effectively on the snow and ice. I suspect this can cause tanning as well as any beach.

Have you noticed how Eskimos (they live in the Arctic!) tend to have darker skin? Why do you think that is ...
yes
Reply:coz the migrated from south america during the ice ages
Reply:i think the sun near the arctic can be pretty strong and plus i dont think they put on any sunscreen...
Reply:becaus the people who migrated there a million years ago had that kind of skin.... i think
Reply:Not really. All that snow reflects a lot of UV around.
Reply:it is daytime there six months in a row.
Reply:"Looking at Alaska, one would think that the native people should be pale as ghosts," One of the reasons they're not is that these populations have not lived in the region very long in terms of geological time. But more importantly, their traditional diet is rich in fish and other seafood. They've consumed huge doses of vitamin D, so they haven't had to undergo the same reduction in pigmentation that would otherwise be required at such high latitudes. "What's really interesting is that if these people don't eat their aboriginal diets of fish and marine mammals, they suffer tremendously high rates of vitamin D-deficiency diseases such as rickets in children and osteoporosis in adults,"
Reply:land of the midnight sun
Reply:Because whatever sunlight they get at the North Pole, it is reflected right back at them from the snow and ice, so they are perpetually being "tanned" and have darker skin than one would expect.
Reply:Because they were relatively new to the area historically speaking. They came across the land bridge from Asia through Russia . They're more Asian than Alaskan.
Reply:The reflection of the sun off of the snow is what causes them to get that healthy glow.

Do Scorpios and Pisces tend to have pale skin and eyes that are dark and mysterious?

I asking because I see alot of water sign people have these features?Whats your opinion

Do Scorpios and Pisces tend to have pale skin and eyes that are dark and mysterious?
That has to do more with your rising sign and aspects to it than it does your sun sign. For example. I know Scorpios that have sparkling green eyes, beccause they have Gemini rising or aspects to Mercury and or Pluto. Or Scorpios with sparkling blue eyes because they have aspects to Uranus or have Aquarius rising, or even have one eye each of a different color. Scorpio rising tends to give a ruddy complexion or reddish tint to the hair; but again, much depends on aspects to the ascendant and house placement of the ruler.

I am Scorpio, but I have sparkling hazel eyes (green mostly with some brown flecks), but I have Aquarius rising. They change color according to what I am wearing that day. My eyes though, as a Scorpio, are my most intense feature, and people often comment on them, especially since I never wear makeup; don't need to. Why mess with nature - that's the Aquarius rising; natural beauty above all. If they are exhibiting the features you describe, then chances are it is their rising sign, and not their sun sign. Example, Pisces rising will often times have big, dreamy, fish eyes. But then you need to look at the aspects to the ascendant , etc.
Reply:Not if they're not Caucasian
Reply:Its from genetics not from horoscopes.
Reply:I am a scorpio and I have dark hair and light skin and very dark brown eyes and have been told that my eyes are mysteriously beautiful plenty of times =)
Reply:Scorpio is a water sign!

And no, thats from genetics, not from horoscopes.
Reply:yes, I'm pale with dark %26amp; mysterious eyes and very feisty but I cannot swim.
Reply:i'm a scorpio and i know a pisces - we both have dark eyes, but not pale skin. there is a zodiac sign for every race and culture.
Reply:Most Scorpios I know have penetrating deep usually, (but not always) dark brown eyes. Sometimes their dark eyes kind of scare me. It sounds weird but it's true. I know a few Pisces and they have light blue eyes that are not mysterious looking. But, a deifinite yes to your question on Scorpios and the dark mysterious eyes.
Reply:Johnny Blaze - Scorpio IS a water sign!!!

According to Linda Goodman's Love Signs book (which is VERY good by the way) yes, Scorpio's tend to have pale skin and dark hair and eyes. It doesn't mean that ALL Scorps will have these features, but it is common....not too sure about Pisces though
Reply:First off, Scorpio isn't a water sign. I'm a scorpio and I have darker skin and dark eyes. Mysterious? subjective. Your appearance has to do with genetics regarding ethnicity and your geographic location, not when you were born.

Do German Shepherds tend to have sensitive skin?

GSDs tend to have allergies which causes them to have sensitive skin. It is mainly due to the breeding, but most dogs have some degree of allergies. I would put your GSD on a high quality omega 3 %26amp; 6 fatty acid supplement and make sure that you have the dog on a high quality food. I would recommend one of the Natural Balance allergy formulas, they have different protien and grain sources that are new to the dog and will help if the dog has any food allergies.

Do German Shepherds tend to have sensitive skin?
I don't know about all German Shepherds.... but mine does.
Reply:Yes !!!! They do.
Reply:it depend on the type. (yes there are diffrent kinds of german shepard!!) Most do have sensitive skin especially if it is a pure bred. Mine had an odd skin thing were he would chew himself rax and whin but he stoped after a year. Go get him checked out. Make sure to feed him right, meaning meats but not so much grain. Grain like foods arn't great for dogs.
Reply:i had two in my life and neither had sensitive skin. one was a mut the other was pure bred. but no.
Reply:I have 2 German Shepherds and they don't tend to have sensitive skin. However; winter can be a bit harsh on them with dryness and such.

With parasites (mites, dander, etc.) this can pose some issues. However; you may want to look around your home or where they frequent and see if they are coming in touch with things, cleaning agents, or other surfaces that may be leading to any problems which is why I assume you asked this question.

However; all in all, a good diet, good maintenance of parisital pests, and keeping up of regular required and recommended shots is why I believe my Shepherds don't have any problems.

I don't skimp on the quality of their food, and I don't give them any people food. I do not bathe them as they keep themselves clean and help groom each other. Too much bathing is not good either.

I brush them as needed, and I make sure they are cool in the Summer and Warm in the winter. You may want to run your concerns by a Veterinarian or Vet Tech if none of what I have shared works.

NOTE: I know of an acquaintence that let his dog run all over a floor he had recently treated with a floor chemical that was absorbed into the poor dog's feet which led to Liver damage and Central Nervous problems such as seizures.

Make sure the surface your dog walks on is safe. Even carpet cleaners or letting your dog walk on a freshly mopped floor can allow many things to be absorbed into his body by way of his paws.

Good Luck!
Reply:Most German Shepherds do not tend to have sensitive skin. Make sure you have your dog on a quality food. Maybe a lamb and rice, or chicken and rice if he has allergies. Also, Shepherds can be highly allergic to fleas. Even if one flea jumps on, bites and jumps off, the dog can scratch or bite hair off on a place so it is raw. Keep your dog free of parasites and treat with something like Frontline plus once a month. In all of my GSD's at my kennel, I do not even have 1 with sensitive skin. Oh, and to the poster above about breeding, I have West German show lines, East German working lines and American show lines here.
Reply:I suggest you visit http://www.dogsvets.net and consult a vet or breed expert for free
Reply:That depend. If yours is a register pedigree. You can check the history of their parent. If the parent are not then it would have been the food you feed. And the living condition of your GSD. Better check it with your vet also and some other breeder.
Reply:yes, they tend to...
Reply:SOME lines of German Shepherds are especially prone to allergies.

Why black people tend to have blotchy skin, uneven complexion?

The same reason white people do...!

What a stupid question.

Why black people tend to have blotchy skin, uneven complexion?
It can be caused by alot of stuff

X-rays, tanning, high level hormones, stress, aging!

but I believe it most likely appears on fair skin people then on darker skin ppl!
Reply:One possibly is the amount of melanin that is in our skin compared to other races/nationalities as we tend to have more melanin (skin pigment).
Reply:i don't think this is true - go look at black 8 year olds - lovely skin.

i think scarring appears different on dark vs. light skin, and i think that hormonal issues cause different pigmentation that is sometimes more noticeable on black vs. light skin.

Do Asian guy tend to like dark skin or light skin black girls?

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Why do people tend to judge others by skin colour rather than individual personality and individualism.?

I love socializing with people, and if people will judge me by my skin colour without actually making an effort to know me, then i petty such people, as they miss out on the most interesting people in the world. we are living in a global village now, skin colour has nothing to do with who u are, your religion, cultural attitude you identify with, where you are from or whatever. Racism exists in different forms, but colour seggregation is lame and unjust...we are all human beings with high intelligence and spiritual presensce...respect that and lets erradicate racism from our thoughts. prejudice makes u a weak person...judge what u can measure and you will love the life you live...peace to all colours, tribes and aliens lol!

Why do people tend to judge others by skin colour rather than individual personality and individualism.?
I think people fear the unknown in general. Humans are tribal by nature and therefore tend to distrust anyone who does not belong to their particular tribe. This is instinctual and the the result of thousands of war torn years.

People who are brought up in wealthier countries distrust people who come from poorer nations and tend to keep them at arms length. All third world countries suffer from corruption and crime and that's what scares people. I don't believe racism is as black %26amp; white as it may first seem. I think wealth has more to do with it than colour...

It can get very depressing thinking about it, but the world can't change overnight. Do your best to make a good impression on the people you meet and change their beliefs. May be in turn they will have the same impact on others they meet.
Reply:Well said.

But old habits die hard, it will take many more generations for people to stop doing this.
Reply:Ok yeah sounds good to me. Well I cant speak for all but ive had a few run ins with Asians because they have an attitude but like i said thats not all of them.

the sad fact of life is that the first thing people see is your skin colour;so thats y they judge us.

Thats the way it is and thtas the way it is always be!

sad
Reply:I wish there was a bar-code on people's forehead telling you that they were good people or just another azzhole, unfortunately that isn't the case,so yes people generalize, and that means you are judged by your peers,it's just the way it is.In a way it's a self-defense mechanism !
Reply:Racism is based on a lack of thought.

When a racist person looks at, say, a black man committing a crime they will naturally think that it is due to the fact that he is black that the man is a criminal. The racist does not think beyond this most easy of answers. What should be considered is the fact that, in history, black people have been oppressed. It does not take a brainwizard to work out that anyone who suffers oppression and subsequent poverty is far more likely to commit crimes - in order to satisfy frustrations. This is called 'strain theory'. The fact that the person is black is not the cause, but simply relates to historical prejudices.

So, that's one cause. Another is blind, stupid and hateful ignorance. To which, I'm afraid, there is no explanation.
Reply:You make good points.

It would be nice...and would HELP the situation...if some of the people who are most often judged by skin color did not insist that in some situations, skin color MUST be taken into account. (As in affirmative action in college admissions, hiring, and promotions, for example.)

It's hard for many of us to understand why so many people claim that everything should be completely color-blind....EXCEPT when it gives them an advantage. Seems a little hypocritical.
Reply:i like what you wrote, people judge others like that because they are probably insecure with themselves, racist, ignorant, they stereotype and small minded. I dont let these types of people get in the way of me meeting people all over the world, I love to meet people all over the world!
Reply:Amen ! I coludn't have said it ant better .
Reply:I agree with you. I'm mostly white (also part American Indian - two tribes). But, I also have cousins who are black. I have friends who are Muslim and I'm Jewish/Christian. The only time I get angry at those who are different from me, is when they use who and what they are as an excuse to be a horses rear end, sit on their butts and not work, think the world owes them something because of what their ancestors went through (BTW, it was the blacks who brought the blacks to this country, NOT the whites). Just a history lesson there for those who didn't know. I could go on and on, but I won't.

Just wanted to let you know that there is someone who agrees with you.

I am going to make one suggestion to you, if I may. Please, please, please learn to use proper spelling, punctuation and grammar. It's annoying to see the English language used improperly.

No offense meant.
Reply:i think you said it all there.... the problem is the older generations can still be prejudiced and they are teaching this to their children, and in turn they might become racist too... this will go on for a long time... alot of people also associate different faiths with global problams too i.e. terrorism with muslims (even if that isnt the case)... it will take a long time for the world to grow out of racism.... its a shame really
Reply:Racists have succeeded in spreading their hatred and making people judgemental.I totally agree with you that people are missing out on so much because they decide to pass judgement based on the colour of someone's skin.Diversity is great and we all have qualities to share if only others were prepared to stop being so insular.

Do breast plates on horses tend to rub their skin??

I want to get a breast plate for my horse but im worried that it might rub its skin raw. Do they really rub the skin or am i just worrying too much?

Do breast plates on horses tend to rub their skin??
No if you have it fitting properly. I use one on my palomino every time I ride him, and I've never seen it rub him.

If you're worried about that, though, there are breastplates you can purchase that are lined with cotton or sheep's wool for your horse's comfort.
Reply:horses have very coarse hair that protects them but make sure it fits properly.
Reply:If they sit too low, they will rub the points of the shoulders as the horse moves. If they are fitted properly, they shouldn't rub. You can buy sheepskin covers for them that can be machine washed or make one yourself with some faux sheepskin

CONFUSION!!!why do people tend to call light skin people "brown"i thought brown skin was the same as dark skin

Like i thought if you were brown skin or chocolate skin tone it means that you are dark but like for example people call halle berry or beyonce brown skin but i thought they were light. So what's dark and light ,give me examples......

CONFUSION!!!why do people tend to call light skin people "brown"i thought brown skin was the same as dark skin
I think it depends where you are from. A girl like halle or beyonce might look really dark if you're from an area dominated by light caucasians.
Reply:Light skin - white, mixed race for example alicia keys, asian for example ashwarya rai, and the very fair black girls for example beyonce and tyra banks.

Dark skin are mainly black women with a dark complexion, they are different shades of brown. Light skin is like a caramel complexion whereas dark is more of a rich and darker chocolate tone, for example niomi cambell.
Reply:n my opinion it depends on who syas it. 4 example, MOST of the time, black people refer to ppl with halle berry skin as "light skin" and MOST of the time, white ppl refer to halle berry and beyonce as brown b/c compared 2 white ppl, they r brown. i'm not racist but, most of the time it depends on who says it. plus, different lighting makes ppl look differnet. so, some pics might look "brown" while others look"light skin"
Reply:Skin color is an opinion. Most people use their own family as a standard. For example, my skin tone is like beyonce and my family call me dark skin because I am the darkest in my family. My Pakistani friends say I am like skin because I am light compare to their family's lightest skin person. My best friend says all my family is brown because all of their family is light skin. They all look like white people to me except that most of them have brown eyes and only one or two have color eyes. They also have a darkest skin, brown skin, and light skin. Thus to answer your question; I think skin color is an opinion and everybody may have their own opinion about it. I really don't care. I am human and I see others as such.
Reply:When it comes to flesh tones, the word brown in marketing, literature and fashion* often means healthy, sexy or glamorous. I think the word "brown" is being used in more than one context in your example. You can be light and still be brown-skinned. When it comes to skin tones though---nothing makes too much sense. For instance, I have very seldom seen a truly white person (with the exception of Albinos) and have never met a truly black person. So brown? It means different things in different situations. Context is important.
Reply:People sometimes call dark people black. But I call light skinned people tan. Dark skinned people are hard to name cause usually there are more light skinned black people in hollywood rather than dark people. Like Vanessa Williams is more light skinned like Halle Berry and they are both famous.

Dark skinned is more like that girl from Destiny child i think her name is Kelly Rowland.

Do Asian guy tend to like dark skin or light skin black girls?

i think it depends on who the person is, but people tell me most like light skin. i my friend mom is black (and dark skin) her father is Asian, and my other friend is going out with a Asian guy and she is dark skin. so i am like, i really don't think it matters to them.

Do Asian guy tend to like dark skin or light skin black girls?
im asian, and most of my guy friends dont mind, they are pretty much like any guy, it depends on chemisty attraction, etc. I mean if they really connect with a girl, asian guys fall hard. I mean guys do tend to have more attention towards lighter skin girls, but thats not just with black people, and its not like that, in terms of a relationship, just like infatuation, but i would still say its not so major that it could be a statistic. They are pretty much looking at it from a person to person point of view.
Reply:I'm a dark skinned girl and I've seen many dark black women with Asian, Latino, and White guys. I think dark skinned women are more exotic and beautiful.
Reply:Skin color don't matter. If you're hot, you're hot. What's most important is the inside. Anybody would date a Tyra Banks, Halle Berry, or a Beyonce. They're all gorgeous women.
Reply:rather than acting more diplomatic i will say being an indian i have seen that many of us tend to have a preference for those whose complexion is lighter than us....
Reply:I'm not trying to say black women aren't good looking...some of them are ridiculously sexy...however, if I was an Asian dude with access to Asian females, I wouldn't be lookin at anyone else
Reply:You are right... It depends on the person. Everyone has their own preferences. Not all Asians have the same preferences. Not all blacks have the same preferences. Not all whites have the same preferences. And so on. Race doesn't predetermine who a person is attracted to. It's a matter of individual preference.

What does skin Cancer tend to start out looking like?

Does it start off looking like small bumps or moles at all?

What does skin Cancer tend to start out looking like?
It depends what type of skin cancer. there are 3 types:

BCC, SCC AND MELANOMA.

Basal cell carcinoma or BCC can be just an itchy patch on your skin that doesn't go away and may even bleed sometimes. SCC or Squamous Cell Carcinoma can be the same but slightly redder and can increase in size and spread to surrounding tissue. MELANOMA is the deadly form and can look like a mole that changes shape or color. Do not delay if you have this. Go and get it checked out.
Reply:It can appear as mole like but the edges will be uneven and it will not have the normal round appearance.
Reply:go to the web...they actually have pictures for you to look at....

Is it true that if you're mix(chinese and malay or others), you tend to have skin problem?or hormone disorder?

i am mix chinese, malay and some natives from indonesia and sarawak, malaysia. i have skin disease called eczema, my sister is allergic to chicken, once she eats, her starts to have rashes and itchiness on her skin. my friend, he's mix too and he sweats a lot, even in an air-conditioning place. and he said his skin is sensitive too.

Is it true that if you're mix(chinese and malay or others), you tend to have skin problem?or hormone disorder?
no it is not true. my family is mixed too but only one person in my family suffers eczema. Her condition wasnt that bad. Her skin is only sensitive to all metals other than gold which means that she cannot have any prolonged skin contact with metals other than gold. Her skin is also sensitive to detergents. She avoided all those and she is fine now.

Its genetic that will be passed onto the next generation. It has nothing to do with mix blood.
Reply:I'm mix too (malay+chinese) and i do have eczema. But, I don't really think that this (being a mixed) has got anything to do with skin problem or any hormonal disorder. What i do know is, if any of your family members suffer from any allergies, you are more prone to have the same condition. It's like you inherit that from your parents...
Reply:No, there is absolutely no reason to believe that.

In fact, mixing races or in other words, mixing two totally different gene-pools is in most cases producing very very healthy children.

With the allergy thing you guys are just unlucky....

Is it true that people with oily skin tend to have less wrinkles?

yes studies have shown that oily skin people have less winkles because the lipidsoluble membrane in our skin keeps our skin moist and fresh. Without oil and fat our skin will actually become more dry,

whereas people with the no-oil skin their skin is like purely dry, serious skin breakdown can occur.

Is it true that people with oily skin tend to have less wrinkles?
Apparently, No.
Reply:oily skin is only one factor that contributes to wrinkles. exposure to sun, diet, smoking, and genetics all play a role
Reply:YES IT TRUE, THAT PEOPLE WITH OLIER SKIN TEND TO GET LESS WRINLES, THE REASON BEING IS THAT THEIR SKIN TENDS NOT TO DRY OUT SO LESS WRINKLES. DONT BUY A SKIN CARE RANGE THAT WILL STRIP THE OIL FROM THE SKIN, BUT A GENTLE SKIN CARE RANGE LIKE LANCOME,OR A CHEAPER ONE WOULD BE AVON.
Reply:yes

oily skin = prone to breakout (-), less wrinkle as they age (+)

dry skin = no breakout (+), wrinkle like hell as they age (-)
Reply:The sun causes 90% of our aging. Only 10% is from naturally growing old. Oily skin will clog your pores and allow dirt and debris to collect on your skin, later causing blemishes and pimples. On the flip side, dry skin causes more oil production. The best way to keep from having too dry or oily of skin is to stick with a pure, water based product that is specifically formulated to help with fine lines and wrinkles. Arbonne has a great botanically based anti aging line for both men and women that contain nanosphere technology which helps the product to adjust to specific skin types and needs. It also contains 9 key anti aging elements that are beneficial to combat visual signs of aging.

When I play basketball for long amounts of time my eyes and skin tend to go red, why do I do this?

My eyes go bloodshot and my skin, especially on my cheeks and chest feels inflamed and goes quite red

Help a brother out

When I play basketball for long amounts of time my eyes and skin tend to go red, why do I do this?
i think u have a form of asma. u should seriously see a doctor. i love basketball and that never happens to me. do me a favor and see the doctor
Reply:You might be overdoing it. Take some break and drink lots of water. If you can mix your water with some Gatorade, it would be better. Try also to place a wet cloth over your eyes every break. And also check for your Blood Pressure in a clinic or something. Usually the eyes turns like blood red when eye veins pop due to extreme blood pressure.

How long does it take for Tend Skin to work?

I used Tend Skin regularly before my wedding on my underarms. I feel like I noticed results almost immediately - within two to three days. If it's not doing much for you after using the whole bottle, than this product might not be for you. Have you been using it as directed? (using on dry skin - daily morn and night until it's cleared up and then regularly after shaving)

Maybe it's time to try something new (although I've heard Tend Skin is the best).

Okay well my boyfriend use tend skin but didn't work so good, do you guys have any other suggestions?

My boyfriend is African American and he has a severe problem with razor bumps and scaring..any ideas how to solve or cure this problem. People's answer with or people who had this problem will be helpful.

Okay well my boyfriend use tend skin but didn't work so good, do you guys have any other suggestions?
He'll have to shave everyday for about two months with a razor and after wards applying baking soda mixed with rubbing alcohol , Then wash it off with warm water and apply aloe vera gell.

Now this is very pain-full and the skin will be raw and tender for the first few weeks. but once the skin begins to toughen up it will be less susceptible to the hairs growing back into the skin causing razor bumps

p.s. : most men hate shaving every day and this is a painful procedure , so Good Luck to ya.....
Reply:My god, he's just slicing the bumps when he shaves. Electric shavers work well, not the one with the triple circles. They work well and they pick up the hair, then cuts it, invest on the pricey ones and they work great.

U know, nowadays its too fashionable question what u asked. We always wanna use products which not contains things which could be bad for ur skin, could be make a big allergenic reaction in it,what could seem as a a skin in "lepra" or something like this, whic is very ugly and very paining. We have to study which contains r not for our skin.I hope the companies know that.....but im not sure bec for them not always the healthy product is the important but the business. If u see and know,u have got allergie ,better if u visit a doctor.or if u know which product or contains dont like ur skin, u could leave them. For luck there r so many products in the market. Its really funny question, nowadays i also have got this proble in my hands bec detergent....I have to forget some soap and other product and have to use spec skin cream for a week. But i wanna my hands to be healthy and nice so i will listen to this problem in the future. And will care abt my all family, too. my email is: cinderbokksee@yahoo.com.au plzzzzz

Where can I buy Tend Skin that's not online?

Where can I buy Tend Skin that's not online?
do you have a sephora store near you?

Where can i buy tend skin other than online?

I go get certain areas of my body waxed sometime. And at the waxing salon they sell it. I live in miami and Ive also seen them being sold at the hair store. You know where all the weave and hair products are sold? Other than that Ive known online to be the only way.

Hey,which works better skin doctors ingrow or tend skin for ingrown hairs?Any1 tried both?

Both Tend Skin and Ingrow Go use the same active ingredients to treat ingrown hairs. Tend Skin has been around for years and is probably the most popular treatment of its kind.

There is an ingrown hair treatment called Priva Shave which has identical properties to Tend Skin, but is more of a gel than a runny liquid.

If you have deeply ingrained ingrown hairs then I would also suggest you use a specialised tweezer to remove the hairs in addition to using a treatment like Tend Skin.

Check out the link below for information on all these products and more...

Has anyone used Tend Skin?

Its supposed to be an amazing lotion for men and women for after shaving and waxing. It supposedly prevents and treats ingrown hairs and razor burn.

I've heard amazing things about it and I want to try it but its crazy expensive.

If you have tried it, please let me know how you liked it?

(I'm looking for actual opinions, not information on it from some website).

Thanks!

I have tried it and have been using it for years. It was actually painful for me to shave until I used it. It burns a lot the first time you put it on but it clears up the razor bumps and ingrown hairs. It is worth the oney. You want the liquid not the cream. If you shave every couple of days you only have to use is when you shave not everyday. I use it one a week and shave everyday with no problem now.
Reply:My husband uses it and it works great for in grown hairs. He uses the liquid one.
Reply:I bought it for my cousin as a gift because he gets really bad razor burn. He told me that it burned really bad when he used it. If you buy it at Sephora and don't like it or it doesn't work, they will let you return it after you tried it.

Has anyone tried TEND SKIN for razor burn and ingrown hairs?

and does this product really work?

Has anyone tried TEND SKIN for razor burn and ingrown hairs?
I LOVE it. I've been using it for about 5 years since my waxer introduced me to it.

It burns if you have just shaved or waxed, but it's not too bad, more like a warm tingle.

The smell isn't the best either but it works wonders.

Does the product "Tend Skin" really work?
