Do breast plates on horses tend to rub their skin??

I want to get a breast plate for my horse but im worried that it might rub its skin raw. Do they really rub the skin or am i just worrying too much?

Do breast plates on horses tend to rub their skin??
No if you have it fitting properly. I use one on my palomino every time I ride him, and I've never seen it rub him.

If you're worried about that, though, there are breastplates you can purchase that are lined with cotton or sheep's wool for your horse's comfort.
Reply:horses have very coarse hair that protects them but make sure it fits properly.
Reply:If they sit too low, they will rub the points of the shoulders as the horse moves. If they are fitted properly, they shouldn't rub. You can buy sheepskin covers for them that can be machine washed or make one yourself with some faux sheepskin
