I'm fat and my skin tends to sag because of losing and gaining weight several times, what could I do to tone up

I would like to tone up my arms especially. I walk Monday thru Friday in the early morning for 45min. before I eat. And I also watch what I eat and never eat after 7pm and I am losing weight. The only problem is I would like to tone up but I just dont know where to begin?

First: eat before you exercise, not after. One, because you need the energy, two, because you'll jump-start your metabolism, and three, because eating after you exercise usually means you'll eat more!

I personally find swimming as the best exercise to tone up. I'm not saying this is you, but sometimes people who are overweight feel uncomfortable running or playing sports, well... because the extra fat gets in the way. Size is completely irrelevant in the water and it's much easier to move and exercise effectively.

Now, if you want to bulk up a bit, you'll have to do weight-training. Start slow, with one or two machines, with weights you're comfortable with but that challenge you a bit, doing 3 sets of 12 reps or so. In general, lower number of reps with heavier weights will get you bulkier muscles, and more reps with lighter weights will get you lean muscle.

Good luck and make sure you don't strain yourself. Building muscle takes time and it'll be useless if you kill yourself for 5 days, then pull something and are unable to move for two weeks.
Reply:Stop the yo-yo, take it off for good and then consider surgery.
Reply:It takes a very long time to lose the loose skin if it ever happens, especially for the waist. The best bet is to get to a healthy maintainable size and if you can afford a tummy tuck that will take care of it. But if you gain it back the same thing will happen. Weight lost too quickly is the culprit.
Reply:Firstly, way to go! I'm happy to hear you're losing. Losing fat does not gain you muscle though, so you need to incorporate weight lifting (start with 5-8- or 10 lbs) at least 2x a week. And especially tricep curls. Your triceps get soggy first. Tighten these up and you'll notice a HUGE difference.

Keep it up, and best of luck!

Reply:It sounds like you're doing mainly cardio! You need to add in some strength training. This will help you build muscle and also help tighten up the skin! It is easier to tighten the skin when you're younger...so I don't know how old you are? There are also creams/lotions that claim they help tighten the skin that you can try. I have never tried these so I can't give you a personal recommendation on that. Of course there is also the consideration of plastic surgery that will get rid of the excess skin...but I would suggest the other routes first! Congratulations on losing the weight and good luck.
