Yes, Shitzhu's do tend to have skin problems. I have a 4 year old Shitzhu and he scratches alot as well. I rook mine to the vet and asked them to recommend a certain food, which seems to help. We use Nutro Pro for small breeds.
Reply:any dog can have skin problems. it could be fron the groomers shampoo, skin mites, allergies?
Reply:My boyfriends Mother has a pure bred Shih Tzu and she has had alot of problem but her most the recent is with her skin for a while her skin was always red and she was biting the hair off of the back of her legs until she brought her to the vets they said it was some kind of yeast infection but yes i have heard that shih tzu's do have alot of skin problems.
